CONTEMPORARY

Contemporary dance class offers some of the same structure of ballet while combining the more improvisational feel of modern dance. Many dancers take contemporary dance classes as an addition to their training after having taken a few years of ballet or jazz. This style of dance allows for self-expression of each performer and the opportunity to move in a way that offers a bit more freedom. If your child has been itching to break the mold, enroll them in a class where they can experience floor work, changes in rhythm and speed, and more organic movements.

TECHNIQUE

Aspiring dancers in Lane County can take technique dance lessons at Next Step Dance and learn the fundamentals of ballet with emphasis on jazz technique training. We offer a safe, nurturing environment for all our students, so they can focus on dance.

NEXT STEP DANCE TEAM

Dancers will be exposed to the genres of Broadway, Novelty, and Prop.  Dances will focus on engaging the audience through acting as a character while dancing and executing skills with props.  Dance Team requires exceptional attendance and willingness to practice as dancers will be learning choreographic elements in groups, levels, and changing formations.

As they work side by side to master the steps, students will also develop a bond that will only be strengthened with each dance they complete. Plus, with the understanding that they are all working toward a mutual goal, students will feel comfortable trying out new steps and making mistakes in the safe class environment we work to foster.  We love the team atmosphere and strive to provide a fun and rewarding atmosphere for each student.
